Kesha mentioned on the Zach Sang Show that the song is about getting high. She played a longer snippet of the song during her album release party with iHeartRadio.^[1]^[2]

Kesha explained the song in her Irish Times interview,

“

I think people would maybe think that I was calling it High Road because I intend on always being so pious and taking the high road, when in reality this song is about . . . Come at me with your hateful comments and the stuff that used to bother me. I’m just going to smoke a little weed and laugh at it because I don’t have time to get mad about it, quite frankly. I’m too busy to get pissed off about some stranger’s mean comments.

A part of the official music video was leaked online on February 2, 2020. The same day, Kesha announced that the video would premiere on the following day, February 3.

The music video does not have a clear storyline to follow like other music videos. It shows Kesha in different locations including the desert, a church, a house, an abandoned marketplace, and a car she is driving. She is wearing some looks from her 2019 photoshoot with Dana Trippe and Brian Roettinger, so it is likely the photoshoot and music video took place at the same time. Her bodyguard, Jeremiah, appears in the video lifting weights during the second verse.
