Katheryn Elizabeth "Katy" Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television personality. Perry started out as a gospel singer, under the name Katy Hudson. She then transitioned into pop music and opted for the stage name Katy Perry, using her mother's maiden name. She has seven albums as of 2024: Katy Hudson, One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, PRISM, Witness, Smile and 143.

She was friends with Kesha, having grown up in Los Angeles together as well as working with some of the same producers before they became famous. Perry contributed backing vocals to an unreleased song, "True Love". Kesha also briefly appears in the music video for Katy's first major label single, "I Kissed a Girl", as well as Perry's film, Katy Perry: Part of Me.

  • Kesha said that they both have seen each other naked.
  • They both have worked on songs with hip-hop duo, 3OH!3 and rappers Juicy J and Nicki Minaj.
  • They both appeared in the promotional video for Bonnie McKee's song, "American Girl".
  • In 2017, Perry testified in the lawsuit between Kesha and Dr. Luke, denying that she was raped by Luke.
    • However, during the "Katy Perry Live: Witness World Wide" livestream, Perry said Kesha is still her friend and that she loves her.
    • In December of 2020, Perry liked Kesha's tweet when she dyed her hair blonde again.
    • However, in 2024, Perry began working with Dr. Luke again on her upcoming sixth studio album.[1] Kesha tweeted "lol", which many fans interpreted as her response to it.[2]
    • Both singers were approached by paparazzi asking about the situation, but neither responded.
    • Perry later went on the Call Your Daddy podcast to defend her decision to working with Dr. Luke.
