"Living in My Head" is a song by Kesha. The song was confirmed by the singer in a livestream on March 8, 2023. It serves as the third track on her album, Gag Order. The visualizer for "Living in My Head" was uploaded to Kesha's Facebook on June 5, 2023.[1] Although originally said to be a Facebook exclusive, the visualizer was uploaded to Kesha's YouTube on June 7, 2023.
Background and composition[]
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kesha revealed that the song was written whilst she was having a panic attack.[2]
"Living in My Head," which Kesha says she wrote in the middle of another panic attack, is a painful listen in the tradition of John Lennon's "Cold Turkey." "Every time I listen to 'Living in My Head' I just want to curl up in a ball and hide," she says.
On May 1, 2023, a fan who entered the sweepstakes contest after pre-saving Gag Order received an envelope with the lyrics for this song. Two days after, another fan received an envelope with the lyrics. The full lyrics was shared on a “Lyrics” tab on Kesha’s website after the tracklist was officially announced by Kesha on May 4, 2023.[3]
Musically, "Living in My Head" is backed by an acoustic guitar with delicate harmonies and speaks of self-hatred.[4]
