Rainbow The Film is a music documentary starring Kesha and produced by Apple Music. The film was released on August 10, 2018, almost a year after the release of third studio album of the same name. The trailer for the film was released on YouTube and Twitter on July 30, 2018.

Synopsis[]

In this moving short film, pop superstar Kesha shares the vision behind her 2017 album, Rainbow. An intimate portrait of her songwriting process and personal struggles — depression, insomnia, and an eating disorder — the piece follows her journey from hospitals and rehab to a triumphant performance of “Praying” at the 2018 GRAMMY® awards. “It’s called Rainbow because after the storm, there’s a rainbow,” she says in the film. “I wrote it as a message to myself that I could make it through.” The film includes music video clips, live performances and footage of the singer writing and recording with Ben Folds, the Dap-Kings, and Saundra Williams.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Kesha's YouTube video "Inspiration Behind "Boots"" appears to contain repurposed footage cut from Rainbow The Film. This can be concluded since the "Inspiration" video consists of Kesha being interviewed in the same chair and with the same outfit as the interview segment in the documentary 17.5 minutes in.
