"They's a Person of the World" is a song by the Black Lips featuring Kesha. The song was originally intended to be released on Record Store Day, which is April 18, 2020;[1] however, the release date was pushed back to June 20, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was again pushed back to a later date of August 29, 2020.[2] However, the song is nowhere to be found on the website, but it can be found elsewhere online.

Background[]

The Record Store Day website calls the song "[a] lush country ballad is a fitting tribute to the traditions of Nashville and it's rich musical history". The song was released on a 7" vinyl with another song by the Black Lips titled "Left Out In The Cold".[1] The cover art was done by Jenn Warren.

A higher quality of the song leaked on July 14, 2021.

Lyrics[]

Some like to call names, some like to divide
You don’t need to come out, you don’t gotta hide
I’m not a boy, I’m not a girl
But they’s a person of the world

What did I [?]
Met those [?]
[?]
Took me by surprise
Those words flew out,
[?]
[?]

They’re not a boy, they’re not a girl
Don’t call me ma’am, I won’t call you sir
Don’t put me second, won’t put your third
But they’s a person of the world

Familiar face, [?]
Still cannot [?]
Well [?]
[?]
[?]
[?]

Them not a boy, I’m not a girl
Don’t call me ma’am, and I won’t call your sir
Don’t put me second, I won’t put you in third
But they’s a person of the world

They’s a person of the world

Some like to call names, some like to divide
You don’t need to come out, you don’t gotta hide
Him not a boy, and her not a girl
But they’s a person of the world
But they’s a person of the world
